Final Thoughts....

Just some final perceptions…..

High achievers aren’t satisfied when they meet the goals they’ve set for themselves.  They’re always looking for ways to improve.  Feedback is an important part of the improvement process.  Actively seek feedback and don’t avoid negative information about yourself.  Seek input and then make changes accordingly.

My website started solely as a bodybuilding site, but is manifesting itself into much more.  There are already many bodybuilding sites out there, so my goal is to provide motivation, not only in bodybuilding, but hopefully on a much larger scale of life itself.  If I have encouraged one person out there to better themselves in some way, then I have done my job.  There are very few things better than getting an email from someone I have never met that says that I have inspired them in one way or another.  Thank you for all of your emails and I do my best to reply to each of you.  Much of my success in work, school, and bodybuilding is the result of surrounding myself with extremely dynamic people. Learn something from everyone.

To digress for a moment.…..For numerous emails I get from the new generation of bodybuilders looking to move out to Venice because they want to be a pro, I will adamantly tell you to stay in school and pursue a primary career other than bodybuilding.  I am definitely not discouraging anyone from pursuing the sport, however, view it is a hobby and not your only choice of a career.  Unless you are a genetic freak, I am telling you that there is no monetary reward in being a pro. If you think I am wrong, ask how many great bodybuilders in California own a home.  Very, very few.  Bodybuilding definitely didn’t pay for my houses, cars and motorcycles.  My degrees and engineering career did.  Use bodybuilding as a vehicle to teach you a level of discipline which you can carry over to other facets of your life.  Stay in school no matter what you do.  Food for thought for the up and coming bodybuilders.

If you want to be successful, you can learn from the behavior of other high achievers.  Put yourself in the place of most potential, as motivation is contagious.  Driven individuals take calculated risks and constantly scan their environment for new and relevant information.  Those who perform well, constantly strive to do better.  Success loves company.  Always set challenging goals for yourself in life and become an optimist.  Keep your distance from unmotivated individuals as that is contagious too.

"Successful people have the habit of doing the things failures don't like to do.  They don't like doing them either, necessarily, but their disliking is subordinated to the strength of their purpose."            - E. M. Gray

Bodybuilding, school, work, or anything else should always be challenging and if it isn’t, then you can work harder.  Whatever it is you choose to do, perform the job in a way that makes others successful.  Separate yourself by pushing yourself everyday in some area.  You can achieve far more than you think you can, but you have to learn to sacrifice and live out of your comfort zone in order to make any gains in life.  Even when times are tough, an optimist sees a failure as a result of controllable factors, rather than a result of a personal flaw.  Take away the lesson when things don’t go as planned.  When you live your life on the precipice, you fall over sometimes.  This is ok.  If you find yourself at the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on.  There is always a rainbow after the thunderstorm.  Just learn from the experience.  In my opinion, this is what life is about.

Our lives are not determined by what happens to us but by how we react to what happens; not by what life brings to us, but by the attitude we bring to life.  A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events, and outcomes.  It is a catalyst, a spark that creates extraordinary results.

Keep learning and moving forward in life, but always look behind you to see who you can help along the way…..

Stay Strong,
